Detail over smoothness
A clean frame with texture beats a plastic frame with none. The default is conservative; the aggressive path is a choice.
About the project
Noise Eraze is an independent plugin project for editors who would rather keep grain than lose detail. It is built around one idea: denoising should be a decision, not a destructive default.
Most cleanup tools are judged on a still frame. Video is not a still frame. Noise moves, codecs move, and a filter that looks clean in a screenshot can shimmer, smear or ghost the moment the timeline plays. Noise Eraze is built around that difference.
The effect started as a CPU pipeline with a small set of temporal and spatial stages. The CUDA path came later, then the motion-vector cache, the hybrid NLMeans split, and a CEP panel that exposes presets without hiding the parameters.
It is deliberately not a one-slider magic button. Simple mode is there for a fast pass, but the full stack stays available: six algorithms, three slots, luma and chroma separated, temporal gates and motion compensation.
A clean frame with texture beats a plastic frame with none. The default is conservative; the aggressive path is a choice.
The same settings and the same frame should give the same picture. Preview simplification is deterministic, so playback is a fair judge.
The plugin runs on your workstation. No upload, no cloud round-trip, no account between you and the render.
Preview performance and export quality are separate problems. The plugin treats them separately instead of pretending one setting solves both.
The documentation is the product manual: parameters, trade-offs, failure modes and the decision tree.
