Preview and Quality
Heavy algorithms (NLMeans, BM3D, BM4D, ATAdenoise with a large window) cannot keep up in real time. So that the timeline does not stall, the plugin can temporarily simplify cleanup during preview — and compute at full quality on export. Two switches in the Preview Quality group handle this.
Draft Preview
The Draft button in the panel header (in Effect Controls — the Draft Preview checkbox) forces a draft render right now, even if Premiere is playing at full quality.
When to turn it on: a heavy algorithm on a long 4K clip, you need to look at the picture and the motion rather than judge final quality.
Important: Draft Preview is a real render parameter. While it is on, the simplified path is used in every render of this effect instance, including export. Turn it off before the final export.
Preview Mode
The Preview Mode popup sets the ceiling of simplification for the draft render:
| Mode | What it means |
|---|---|
Realtime |
maximum simplification — smoothness matters more than quality |
Balanced |
strong simplification |
Final |
the default: moderate draft simplification |
Extreme |
almost nothing in the draft is simplified |
The simplification is deterministic: the same simplification step gives the same picture from frame to frame — the preview does not "float", and you can judge settings from it.
How to use it
- Dialing in the effect — Draft Preview on, Preview Mode as the situation requires:
Realtimeon heavy clips,Finalwhen the hardware keeps up. - Judging motion and gates — the draft is exactly what you need: motion is visible, ghosting is visible.
- Final render and export — Draft Preview off. This is the mode in which to judge the cleanliness of the result.
Why export differs from preview
If the picture is cleaner in the export than in the preview — you were looking at the draft. If it is the other way around (the export is smeared while the preview was clean) — Draft Preview was still on at export time: turn it off and re-render.
